Meta-analysis moderators Pooled evidence
Coping flexibility mattered more in less individualistic countries and older samples
Among the samples in this meta-analysis, the link between coping flexibility and adjustment was stronger in countries lower in individualism and in samples with a higher average age, as found using moderator analysis across 329 effect sizes.
Details
- Who was studied
- 58,946 participants
- Observation window
- Studies published 1978 to 2013
- What was measured
- Country individualism and average age as moderators
- What this establishes
- A pattern pooled across studies
Reported effect: Individualism and age explained 10% and 13% of the variance
Limits: A country-level average says nothing certain about any one person in that country.
What it does not show: This establishes that the association varies by culture and age across samples, but not how any particular respondent in India or elsewhere will behave.
Relationship to Calmistry
Makes measuring in India, where most Calmistry participants live, more informative. It does not tell us how Indian respondents will score.
