Study updates

An open notebook: what we're testing, where each study stands, and what we'll show when there's something real.

The notebook is open. The conclusions are not written yet.

Here is what we are testing, what we have collected so far, which checks remain, and what would cause us to change the model.

Where each study stands

  • Do the questions mean what we think they mean?

    Recruiting

  • Are answers consistent when circumstances have not changed?

    Recruiting

  • Does the model add anything beyond established measures?

    Analysis not begun

  • Does birth timing add any information beyond psychology and controls?

    Recruiting

No findings are published yet. When one is, it appears here with its date, version, sample, comparison and status.

What will appear here

  1. Question: the precise claim being tested.
  2. Method: who was included and what was measured.
  3. Comparison: which simpler explanation or randomised control it had to beat.
  4. Finding: the estimate, uncertainty and limitations.
  5. Decision: keep, revise or retire the hypothesis.

A result that does not support an idea is still useful. It can save many people from a confident but unhelpful idea.

We are running this research to validate, or invalidate, our hypotheses, and to make whatever works accessible to far more people: towards a world that understands and manages stress mechanics better.
